Vote to pass a bill that, under specific circumstances, exempts children between 5 and 8 years of age from the safety restraint device requirement, and instead requires a safety belt be fastened.

Highlights:

• Exempts children between 5 and 8 years of age from the safety restraint device requirement if the vehicle does not exceed 45 miles per hour, the intended destination is within 4 miles, and the driver is operating the motor vehicle directly to or from 1 of the following locations (Sec. 1):
• School where 1 of the passengers is enrolled;
• Church sponsored activity; or
• Organized recreational activity.
