Title: Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act
Vote to pass a bill that places a five percent fee on money transfers to foreign countries by individuals who cannot prove U.S. citizenship or a legal entry into the U.S. The bill also requires public employers to verify the legal status of all new employees beginning on July 1, 2007 and to provide documents on each person working for them upon the request of the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Labors office. The bill also specifies that private employers cannot deduct wages paid to a person who does not provide taxpayer identification and employment authorization documents, unless the employee was hired before January 1, 2008.
