Title: Health Insurance Policy Coverage For Reproductive Services
Vote to adopt a conference report that requires health insurance policies to cover reproductive services.
-Requires all individual sickness and accident insurance policies and health care or indemnity contracts to provide coverage for contraception in the same manner as any other sickness, injury, disease, or condition (Sec 1). -Authorizes individual sickness and accident insurance policies or contracts to exclude coverage for pregnancy and delivery expenses if it was a preexisting condition, but may not do so for any subsequent pregnancies (Sec. 1). -Prohibits group sickness and accident insurance policies or contracts from excluding coverage for pregnancy and delivery expenses if it was a preexisting condition (Sec. 1). -Specifies that this act take effect January 1, 2011 unless a referendum petition is filed within the 90 day period after final adjournment of the general assembly in which case it shall be approved by the people at the general election in November 2010 and take effect on January 1, 2011 or on the date of the official declaration of the vote by the governor, whichever is later (Sec. 2).
