Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the governor of Arizona to establish and fund a state guard.
Highlights:
- Authorizes the governor of Arizona to establish an armed force, which shall be known as the Arizona State Guard, for any of the following reasons (Sec. 1):
- The National Guard of Arizona, or a major portion thereof, is alerted for or called into active federal service; or
- For any other reason the governor considers necessary.
- Specifies that any funds appropriated to the National Guard are also considered to be appropriated to the State Guard, and that any unspent funds appropriated to the National Guard may be used for the State Guard (Sec. 1).
