Vote to override a veto of a bill that requires companies with more than 10,000 employees that do not spend eight percent (for profit companies) or six percent (non profit companies) of total wages on health insurance costs to pay the difference and establishes a fine of up to $250,000 for not making such a payment. The bill also creates the Fair Share Health Care Fund that will be funded by the payments of employers who do not meet the eight percent requirement (and other sources) to be used for the Medicaid program. Additionally the bill requires employers with more than 10,000 employees to report the number of employees and what percentage of wages they spent on health insurance the previous year, beginning January 1, 2007, and establishes a fine of up to $250 per day for failing to file such a report.
