Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals to photograph or record peace officers while on duty, effective October 1, 2012.
Highlights:
Prohibits peace officers from interfering with any individual who takes photographic or video images of a peace officer performing his or her duties unless it is for the following reasons (Sec. 1):
To enforce a criminal law;
To protect public safety;
To preserve the integrity of the crime scene or criminal investigation;
To protect the privacy of the victim of the crime; or
To enforce court rules regarding photography or video-recording in facilities of the Judicial Branch.
