Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the driver or any passenger from smoking in a motor vehicle that contains a child who is under 8 years old, effective October 1, 2013.

Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual from smoking in a motor vehicle when a child under 8 years old is present (Sec. 1).

• Defines “smoking” as the burning of a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, or any other device or substance that contains tobacco (Sec. 1).

• Exempts smoking in mobile homes when the mobile home is used as a permanent or temporary living or sleeping place (Sec. 1).

• Establishes a fine of no more than $50 for any individual convicted of a violation of this bill (Sec. 1).
