Title: Amends Poll Worker Eligibility Requirements

Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes an elections official to appoint a non-voter as a precinct board member.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes a non-voter to be appointed as precinct board member if the non-voter meets the following qualifications (Secs. 1 & 2):
    • The non-voter is a lawful permanent resident of the United States; and
    • The non-voter is otherwise eligible to register to vote, except for his or her lack of United States citizenship. 
  • Authorizes election officials to appoint up to 5 non-voters per precinct to serve as board members (Sec. 2).
  • Prohibits a non-citizen board member from performing the following duties (Sec. 2):
    • Performing the duties of a precinct board inspector; or
