Title: Amends the Voter Registration Deadline

Vote to pass a bill that amends the voter registration deadline.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits the Board of Registrars of a county with at least 600,000 inhabitants from registering an individual to vote within 17 days prior to any election (Sec. 1).
  • Requires the Secretary of State to maintain a centralized, computerized statewide voter registration list (Sec. 1).
  • Requires the voter list to fulfill certain requirements including, but not limited to, the following requirements (Sec. 1):
    • The list shall be published by the 20th day prior to any general, primary, or special election;
    • The list shall include the voting history of each registered voter;
    • The list shall attach a “unique identifier” to each registered voter; and
    • The list shall be coordinated with the Department of Public Safety to assist in the removal of deceased voters.
  • Requires the Secretary of State to provide the computerized voter registration list to certain election officials and political parties that satisfied the ballot access requirements of the most recent state or county election (Sec. 1).
