Vote to pass a bill that requires signature gathering organizations to register with the Secretary of State, effective immediately.
Highlights:
- Requires an organization that pays individuals who obtain signatures for a petition or referendum to select at least 1 individual to attend a training program established by the Secretary of State and submit a signed statement to the Secretary with the following information (Sec. 1):
- Acknowledging that the individual has read and understands Oregon law applicable to the gathering of signatures on state initiatives and referendum as summarized by the training program; and
- Affirming that the organization or entity operates in compliance with the law.
