Highlights:

  • Repeals the requirement for the state to notify the Kansas Historic Preservation Officer prior to undertaking any project which will damage any historic property included in the national or state registrars of historic places when the proposed project is located in the following areas (Sec. 4):
    • Within 500 feet of the boundaries of an historic property located within the corporate limits of a city; or
    • Within 1,000 feet of the boundaries of an historic property located in the unincorporated portion of a county.
  • Limits the locations of proposed projects the Kansas Historic Preservation Officer has the authority to investigate to proposed projects that directly involve an historic property included in the national or state registrars of historic places (Sec. 4).
