Title: Authorizes Medical Marijuana for Minors

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes medical marijuana for minors, effective immediately.

Highlights:

  • Requires a minor’s custodial parent or guardian to receive a physician’s explanation of the potential risk and benefits of medical marijuana before medical marijuana can be authorized for the minor (Sec. 1).
  • Specifies that a patient who is a minor shall not be subject to any requirements for the use of medical marijuana beyond those that would apply to a patient who is an adult (Sec. 1).
  • Prohibits an alternative treatment center from being limited in the number of strains of medical marijuana it can cultivate, and authorizes the center to package and directly dispense marijuana as follows (Sec. 2):
    • As an oral lozenge;
    • As topical formulations;
    • In dried or edible form; or 
    • In other forms permitted by the Commissioner of Health and Senior Services.
