Title: Increases the Minimum Wage

Vote to pass a joint resolution that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters that increases the minimum wage.

Highlights:

  • Increases the minimum wage annually to the nearest multiple of $0.05 to account for increases in the cost of living, but not to exceed 4 percent in 1 year, beginning July 1, 2015 (Sec. 1).

NOTE: AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION REQUIRES MAJORITY APPROVAL BY ALL ELECTED MEMBERS VOTING SEPARATELY IN EACH CHAMBER FOR PASSAGE. PRESENTLY A MAJORITY OF ALL ELECTED MEMBERS IS 36 IN THE HOUSE AND 22 IN THE SENATE. IT MUST THEN BE APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF CITIZENS VOTING IN THE NEXT ELECTION TO BECOME ENACTED.
