Vote to pass a bill that prohibits a state official from working as a lobbyist for 2 years after leaving office, effective July 1, 2014.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a former statewide elected official, public regulations commissioner, state legislator, or cabinet secretary from accepting compensation as a lobbyist for the period of 2 calendar years after serving in office (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits a lobbyist’s employer from giving compensation to a former statewide elected official, public regulation commissioner, state legislator, or cabinet secretary as a lobbyist for a period of 2 calendar years after the individual served in office (Sec.1). 

• Classifies a violation of this bill as a misdemeanor (Sec. 1).
