Vote to pass a bill that amends teacher contracts.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a current agreement between a board of education and a professional employees’ organization from being continued or renewed beyond July 1, 2015, unless an expiration date is explicitly provided within the agreement that is on or after July 1, 2015 (Sec. 2).
• Limits negotiations between a board of education and a professional employees’ organization to the minimum rate of compensation, hours of work, amount of work, and a maximum of 3 additional terms and conditions of professional service, unless it is the board of education’s and professional employees’ organization’s first agreement (Sec. 3).
• Extends the “statutory declaration of impasse date” for all teaching contracts from June 1 to July 31 in the current school year (Sec. 1).
• Extends the date to file notice to negotiate for additions or amendments to an existing teaching contract from February 1 to March 31 (Sec. 3).
