Vote to pass a bill that authorizes state agencies to raise fees by the percent increase of the Consumer Price Index during a specified period.
Highlights:
- Authorizes a state agency that is authorized to charge a fee to fund its operations to increase the fee by one of the following percentage increase amounts (Sec. 1):
- The amount that the Consumer Price Index increased over the previous 10 year period; or
- The amount that the Consumer Price Index increased since the previous increase in fees.
- Prohibits an agency from increasing its fees more than 2 percent per year or from increasing its fees more than once in 5 years (Sec. 1).
- Exempts the Alabama Public Service Commission, the State Parks Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the State Banking Department from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
