Title: Amends Education Funding System

Vote to pass a bill that requires the Legislature to amend the education funding system by the end of the 2017 session.
Highlights:
- Requires the Legislature to take action by the end of the 2017 legislative session to “eliminate school district dependency” on local taxes (Sec. 4).
- Establishes an education funding task force to make recommendations to the Legislature relating to topics including, but not limited to, the following topics (Sec. 2):
- Sufficient compensation to hire and retain staff;
- A system for future salary adjustments; and
- Educator recruitment and retention programs.
- Specifies that the education funding task force will consist of 4 state senators, 4 state house members, and the governor (Sec. 2).
- Requires the superintendent of a public school district to provide staff compensation data to the education funding task force (Sec. 3).
