Title: Authorizes Concealed Carry Reciprocity for Out-of-State License Holders

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes an individual with an out-of-state license to carry a concealed handgun in Virginia.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes an individual over the age of 21 with a valid concealed handgun permit from another state to carry a concealed handgun in Virginia, if he or she meets the following requirements (Sec. 1):
    • The individual carries government-issued photo identification and permit; and
    • The individual has not previously had a Virginia concealed handgun permit revoked.
  • Requires the attorney general to enter into an agreement for reciprocal recognition of concealed handgun permits with a state where reciprocity is in place as of December 1, 2015 (Sec. 2).
