Title: Establishes Regulations for Municipal Ordinance Violation Penalties

  • Establishes certain regulations on penalties for a municipal ordinance violation including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. A):
    • Prohibits a court from assessing a fine greater than $200;
    • Prohibits a court from sentencing an individual to confinement with the exemption of violations involving alcohol or controlled substances; and
    • Authorizes a court to waive court costs if the individual is deemed indigent or if the case is dismissed.
  • Specifies that the state is not liable for any debts a municipality is unable to pay (Sec. A).
