Vote to pass a bill that authorizes an extension for water permits.
Highlights:
- Authorizes annual extensions for existing water rights permits for either 3 years or until the permit is resolved, whichever comes first (Sec. 1).
- Appropriates $150,000 to the Department of Land and Natural Resources to expedite the permit extension authorization process by hiring the following 2 full-time positions (Sec. 2):
- 1 project development specialist for the land division; and
- 1 hydrologist for the commission on water resource management.
- Requires the Department of Land and Natural Resources to submit annual reports to the legislature that include, but are not limited to, the status of extended permits and any relevant recommendation for legislative action (Sec. 3).
