A vote to pass a bill that requires the Kentucky Board of Education to create standards for elective courses related to religious literature.

Highlights:

• Requires the Board of Education to establish standards for elective social studies courses on the Hebrew scriptures and the New Testament of the Bible (Sec. 1).

• Requires elective courses to follow federal and state guidelines regarding religious neutrality and accommodation of diverse religious views, traditions, and perspectives (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the purpose of the elective courses should be to (Sec. 1):
• Teach students knowledge of biblical content and narratives;
