Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the vaccination of children new to the foster care system, among other provisions.

Highlights:

• Specifies that a child taken into the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services who remains in conservatorship for more than 3 business days must receive a medical examination and a mental health screening from a physician or other healthcare provider (Sec. 4).

• Prohibits a physician or healthcare provider from administering vaccines to a child in the course of such examination (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that a physician or healthcare provider may administer a tetanus vaccines to a child in the course of such examination if the physician determines that there is an emergency that necessitates the vaccines (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that this prohibition no longer applies after the Department has been named managing conservator of a child in a hearing (Sec. 4).

• Authorizes additional changes to the foster care system, effective September 1, 2017 (Secs. 1-3, 5-24).
