Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the issuance of special licenses that identify veterans and establishes regulations to make the state compliant with the federal Real-ID Act of 2005.

Highlights:

 

  • Authorizes the issuance of an identification card or driver’s license that’s specifically designated for veterans who either served in the U.S. army or served in the military operations in support of the U.S. in the Kingdom of Laos between February 28, 1961 and May 15, 1975 (Sec. 4).

  • Establishes regulations for the issuance of identification cards or licenses that are compliant with the federal Real-ID Act of 2005 (Sec. 5).

  • Prohibits any form of data sharing that is not required for compliance (Sec. 6).

  • Requires in addition to other fees a charge of $10 to apply for a federally compliant license (Sec. 16).
