Vote to pass a bill that requires state law enforcement agencies to equip their officers with body cameras while on duty.

Highlights:

• Requires certain police officers to wear a portable video recording device while on duty (Sec. 1).

• Requires law enforcement agencies to adopt policies and procedures governing police officers’ use of these devices (Sec. 1).

• Requires officers who wear body cameras to activate them whenever they respond to a call for service or have a law related encounter with the public (Sec. 1).

• Requires law enforcement agencies to retain the recordings for at least 15 days (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes the public to request to view a recording on a per incident basis (Sec. 1)

• Prohibits recordings that contain confidential information from being viewed anywhere besides the location where the recordings are held (Sec. 1).
