Vote to pass a bill that amends clean energy and energy efficiency programs and solar energy portfolio standards.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires the Board of Public Utilities to establish a process and mechanism for achieving the goal of 600 megawatts of energy storage by 2021 and 2,000 megawatts of energy storage by 2030 (Sec. 1).

  • Requires electric power suppliers and basic generation service providers to provide a greater percentage of solar energy each year, culminating in 5.1% by energy year 2021 and then gradually reducing it thereafter until energy year 2033 (Sec. 2).

  • Authorizes customers of an electric public utility to participate in a solar energy project with a capacity of 5 megawatts or less that is remotely located from their properties, but is within their utility service territory (Sec. 5).

  • Authorizes a credit to the customer's utility bill equal to the electricity generated that is attributed to the customer's participation in the solar energy project (Sec. 5).

  • Authorizes a tax credit for qualified wind energy projects in an eligible wind energy zone (Sec. 6).
