Title: Prohibits Auto Lenders From Remotely Disabling Vehicles
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits auto lenders from remotely disabling disabling a vehicle without first giving notice of the disabling to the debtor.
Prohibits the remote disabling of a vehicle without first giving written notice to the debtor of the vehicle (Sec. 601).
Requires the written notice to be mailed to the address that the debtor will be residing on the expected date of the remote disabling of the vehicle (Sec. 601).
Requires the notice to be postmarked no later than 10 days prior to the date on which the principal creditor obtained the right to remotely disable the vehicle (Sec. 601).
Establishes a $50 fine per subpoena towards a principal creditor that fails to maintain records in accordance with this act, reaching a maximum of $5,000 per violation (Sec. 601).
Specifies that this act takes effect immediately (Sec. 601).
