Title: Exempts Graduate Students Who Qualify for Tuition Equity From Paying Nonresident Tuition
Vote to pass a bill that exempts graduate students who qualify for tuition equity from paying nonresident tuition at public universities.
Exempts both undergraduate and graduate students that are not citizens or lawfully permanent residents of the United States from paying nonresident tuition and fees for enrollment in a degree program at a public university if the student meets the following requirements (Sec. 1):
Attended a K-12 school in Oregon for at least three years or a school in the U.S. for at least five years;
Shows intent to become a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.; and
Qualifies for student tuition equity.
Establishes an emergency declaration, stating that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety (Sec. 3).
