A vote to pass a bill that limits state funding for dual-credit coursework for high school students.

Highlights:

• Amends the title of the Move on When Ready Act to the Dual Enrollment Act (Sec. 1).

• Defines “covered dual credit courses” as courses of up to 32 semester hours of transferable coursework for the University College System of Georgia or up to 63 semester hours of transferable coursework for the Technical College System of Georgia (Sec. 1). 

• Amends existing law to require the Georgia Student Finance Commission rather than the Department of Education to develop the counseling guidelines for the dual credit program (Sec. 1). 

• Authorizes any eligible high school student to take any non-covered dual credit course at their own expense (Sec. 1).

• Limits a covered eligible high school student to a maximum of 16 dual credit hours per semester (Sec. 1).
