Vote to pass a bill that expands healthcare access for maternal health centered on postpartum depression.

Highlights:

• Defines “maternal depression” as depression of any severity with postpartum onset (Sec. 1 & 3).

• Requires covered services under the child health plan to include a maternal depression screening for an enrollee’s mother performed during a covered well-child or other office visit for the enrollee that occurs before the first birthday of the enrollee (Sec. 1).

• Requires the commission to provide medical assistance reimbursement for maternal depression screenings under the Texas Health Steps Comprehensive Care Program before the first birthday of the recipient (Sec. 3).
