Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the use of certain electronic devices while driving.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a person from operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device (Sec. 2). 

• Authorizes the use of a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle in the following situations (Sec. 2):

• Paid or volunteer first responders performing their official duties;

• Using a mobile device for emergency purposes; 

• Using a navigation system; 

• Reading, selecting, or entering a phone number to make a call; or 

• Using a device in a hands-free or voice-operated mode. 

• Prohibits accessing, reading, or posting on social media platforms while operating a motor vehicle (Sec. 3).
