Vote to amend and pass a bill that expands who can perform an abortion in the first trimester, and repeals various abortion restrictions.

Highlights:

• Authorizes any person jointly licensed by the Boards of Medicine and Nursing as a nurse practitioner and acting within such person’s scope of practice, to terminate or attempt to terminate a human pregnancy or aid or assist in the termination of a human pregnancy by performing an abortion or causing a miscarriage on any woman during the first trimester of pregnancy (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the requirement for a medical professional to perform fetal transabdominal ultrasound imaging before the performance of an abortion (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the requirement for a pregnant woman seeking an abortion to provide written consent to the abortion (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the requirement for the Department of Health to print and make available at each local health department geographically indexed materials designed to inform the woman of public and private agencies and services available to assist a woman through pregnancy, upon childbirth and while the child is dependent (Sec. 1).
