Title: Establishes Alert Systems in Public Schools
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that establishes "Alyssa's Law," which requires each public school to implement a mobile panic alert system.
Requires all public schools to implement a mobile panic alert system that ensures real-time coordination of first-responder agencies, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year (Sec. 2).
Authorizes public school districts to implement additional strategies to ensure real-time coordination of first responder agencies in a school security emergency (Sec. 2).
Requires the Department of Education to consult with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, the Department of Law Enforcement, and the Division of Emergency Management to issue a competitive solicitation to contract for the mobile panic alert system for the 2020-2021 fiscal year (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect July 1, 2020 (Sec. 3).
