Title: Limits Liability of Restaurants During the COVID-19 Epidemic
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that limits liability for restaurants that provide food-to-go during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Limits owners, operators, employees, contractors, or agents of a restaurant that are in substantial compliance with Proclamation Number 25 JBE 2020 and any subsequent related proclamations and applicable COVID-19 coronavirus procedures established by federal, state, or local agencies from having civil liability for injury or death due to COVID-19 infection transmitted through the preparation and serving of food and beverages (Sec 1).
Specifies that the above highlight will not apply if injury or death was caused by gross negligence or willful and wanton misconduct (Sec 1).
Requires employees to retain the rights and remedies granted under the Louisiana Worker’s Compensation Law (Sec 1).
