Vote to pass a bill that requires instruction regarding symbols of hate to be incorporated into the curricula for grades 6 through 12.

Highlights:

• Requires the course of instruction for grades 6-12 to include a component on the meaning of the swastika as the emblem of Nazi Germany, as well as the noose as a symbol of racism and intimidation (Sec. 1).

• Requires the regents to determine how to incorporate such components into existing curricula, and the commissioner to promulgate any regulations needed to carry out such determination of the regents (Sec. 1).
