Title: Authorizes In-Person Voting Centers
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes in-person voting centers for the 2020 election.
Authorizes counties to establish one or more vote centers that are equipped to issue the appropriate ballot to any elector from any precinct within the county and to record that elector as having voted (Sec. 1).
Requires electors appearing at a vote center to state their name and address and present their identification (Sec. 1).
Requires election officials to examine the records to ascertain whether or not the applicant is registered and lawfully entitled to vote as requested (Sec. 1).
Requires each elector to sign their name in the election register and poll book before receiving a ballot (Sec. 1).
Requires election officials to proclaim that the elector has voted in an audible voice after the marked ballot has been deposited in the ballot box (Sec. 1).
Requires counties that plan to use one or more vote centers to do the following (Sec. 1):
Notify the secretary of state at least 30 days prior to the first implementation;
Provide at least one vote center in each legislative district within the county;
Provide at least one vote center for every 15,000 registered voters; and
Provide at least one vote center within 25 miles of every registered voter who is not located within a mail ballot precinct.
Requires voters requiring assistance to be provided with assistance (Sec. 1).
Prohibits electioneering at a vote center polling place (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act expires December 31, 2020 (Sec. 3).
