Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the endorsement of expedited professional licenses for former or current military service members and their spouses.

Highlights:

• Requires professional licensing boards to endorse the expedited license of any individual who meets all of the following requirements (Sec 2):

• Is the spouse of a current or transitioning military service member within the state of Georgia;

• Holds a license for that same profession from another state with similar training and testing requirements;

• Is in good standing with that other state;

• Is able to pass any examination meant to test the strength of the individual’s knowledge of the state of Georgia’s laws and regulations regarding the practice of the profession for which they have filled for licensure.

• Authorizes current or discharged members of the military to apply for immediate licensure of a certificate of registration in cosmetology, provided that the individual holds a license in another state for which the training and testing requirements are similar to that of the state of Georgia (Sec 3).

• Authorizes the State Board of Veterinary Medicine to issue a temporary license to transitioning military personnel (Sec 6).
