A vote to concur with the Senate substitute and pass a bill that specifies that gender related crimes are associated with hate crimes.

Highlights:

• Defines “hate crime” as any illegal act directed against any individual or their property due to the individuals (Sec. 1):

• Race or religion;

• Gender, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation; and

• Ethnic or national origin.

• Defines “disability” as having a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of an individual major life activities (Sec. 1).

• Establishes that any individual found to of intentionally enter the land, dwelling, outhouse, or other building for the purpose of damaging such property is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor and specifies that if the damage was caused because of an individual's race, religious conviction, color, gender, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin or ethnicity shall be guilty of a Class 6 felony (Sec. 1).
