Vote to pass a bill that authorizes three weeks paid parental leave for state employees and local Board of Education members after the birth, fostering, or adoption of a child.
Defines an ‘eligible employee’ as (Sec. 1):
An individual classified as full-time by the state employing entity; or
An individual classified as full-time by the local board of education
Defines a ‘qualifying life event’ as (Sec. 1):
The birth of a child of an eligible employee;
The placement of a minor child for adoption with an eligible employee; or
The placement of a minor child for foster care with an eligible employee.
Specifies that employees are eligible for paid parental leave for qualifying life events after six months of continuous work at their place of employment, for a minimum of 700 hours (Sec. 1).
Limits the maximum amount of parental leave that an eligible employee can take in a year to 120 hours, regardless of how many qualifying life events occur in that year (Sec. 1).
Specifies that parental leave does not have to be taken in a block and may be taken as needed (Sec. 1).
