Title: Establishes an Alternative Highway Commission

Vote to pass a bill that establishes an Alternative Highway Commission that could abolish a County High Commission.

Highlights:

 

  • Defines "Home-based business" as any business for the manufacture, provision, or sale of goods or services that are owned and operated by the owner or tenant of the residential dwelling (Sec. A-1.2).

  • Prohibits any municipality from requiring a person, as a condition of operating a home-based business, to (Sec. A-5):

    • Rezone the property for commercial use;

    • Obtain a home-based business license; or

    • Install or equip fire sprinklers in a single-family detached residential dwelling or any residential dwelling with no more than two dwelling units.

  • Authorizes all counties of this state which have adopted the Alternative County Highway Commission to abolish it (Sec. A-6-2.1).

  • Requires any county which does not adopt the Alternative County Highway Commission or any county in which a majority of the voters of the county voting upon the question rejects the Alternative County Highway Commission is abolished and must adopt either of the county highway commissions (Sec. A-6-2.2).
