Vote to pass a bill that requires the judicial circuit to create diversion programs.

Highlights:

• Authorizes counties to establish a community punishment and corrections program for state and county inmates or youth offenders in custody (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes judges to assign inmates to corrections programs within the sentencing circuit if one does not exist in the county where the inmate was sentenced (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that participation in community corrections programs is voluntary for authorizing entities, provided that each judicial circuit has at least one community punishment and corrections program in operation (Sec. 1).

• Requires that a corrections program be put in place in every judicial circuit by January 1, 2022 (Sec. 2).
