Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, rental assistance, and school aid.

Highlights:

 

  • Appropriates $125 million from the federal funding and $313 million from the state funding to the emergency education relief (GEER) fund (Sec. 11n):

    • $86 million will be allocated for emergency assistance to nonpublic schools;

    • $90 million from state school aid funding will be allocated for summer programs and $45 million from state school aid funding will be allocated for credit recovery programs that are part of COVID-19 remediation services (Sec. 23):

      • Additional amounts of $10 million will be allocated for additional payments for credit recovery and summer programs and $5.8 million will be allocated as grant money to reimburse parents for summer school payments; and

    • $22 million from the federal funding will be allocated for before-school, after-school, or before-and-after school programs that are part of COVID-19 remediation services.

  • Appropriates $807 million to the elementary and secondary school emergency relief (ESSER) fund (Sec. 11n).

  • Appropriates $450 for students in districts with ESSER formula payments per pupil who are enrolled in virtual courses (Sec. 11r).

  • Appropriates $11.7 million from state school aid funding to begin implementation of a benchmark assessment system for the 2021-22 school year (Sec. 104a).
