Vote to adopt a conference report that would appropriate $429.1 million in federal funds to the District of Columbia, authorize the District's $6.8 billion budget, and provide $313.6 billion to the Departments of Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services.

Highlights:

• Institutes a 0.97 percent government wide discretionary spending cut.

• $39.8 billion for Department of Health and Human Services, $17.9 billion for the National Institutes of Health, $2.5 billion for substance and mental health abuse treatment, $4.4 billion for AIDS prevention and treatment activities.

• $35 billion for the Education Department, $6.04 billion for special education, $773.8 million for the identification, treatment and prevention of school violence, and $180 million for GEAR UP, a program to assist low-income children prepare for college.

• $11.2 billion for the Labor Department, including $1.3 billion for the Job Corps program.
