Vote to pass a bill that establishes new requirements for absentee voting such as photo identification.

Highlights:

• Requires, prior to any state election, the secretary of state to prepare the appropriate application forms for absentee ballots and insert the names of all parties qualified in the list of parties on the application form and then prepare the application forms in such quantity as he or she deems necessary (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that identity information sufficient to satisfy the requirements includes a driver's license number and state of issuance, a nondriver's picture identification card number and state of issuance, the last 4 digits of a social security number, or any other information or records that the town clerk may verify(Sec. 2). 

• Authorizes the town clerk to verify driver's license and nondriver's picture identification card information, when provided, with the Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles or local law enforcement and specifies that the statewide centralized voter registration database will be reviewed and updated based on any information provided with the absentee ballot application (Sec. 2).
