Vote to pass a bill that extends the utility shutoff moratorium throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency.

Highlights:

• Specifies that this act shall take effect immediately and shall expire July 1, 2022 (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits any utility corporation, municipality, cable television company, or telephone corporation from terminating or disconnecting services to any residential or small business customer with 25 or fewer employees that is not a publicly held company or a subsidiary thereof, or a seasononal,  short-term, or temporary customer (Sec. 1).

• Requires utility corporations and municipalities to restore services to any resident of a small business customer within 48 hours if such service had been terminated during the COVID-19 state of emergency (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits a utility corporation, cable television company, or telephone corporation from terminating or disconnecting service for a period of 180 days after the COVID-19 state of emergency is lifted or December 31, 2021, whichever is earlier (Sec. 1).
