Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that amends protection order laws to include domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, anti-harassment, vulnerable adult, and extreme risk protection orders in a new chapter governing all protection orders.

Highlights:

• Amends previous civil protection order laws to include the following protective orders under a new chapter governing all civil protection orders, including (Part II, Sec. 3):

• Domestic violence protection orders;

• Sexual assault protection orders;

• Stalking protection orders;

• Anti-harassment protection orders; 

• Vulnerable adult protection orders; and, 

• Extreme risk protection orders.

• Requires that before each of the aforementioned protection orders, individuals disclose the existence of a no-contact order between both parties before entering into a protection order (Part III, Sec. 14).

• Authorizes law enforcement officers to arrest without a warrant, and take into custody an individual whom the law enforcement officer has probable cause to believe violated any of the aforementioned civil protection orders or a Canadian domestic violence protection order (Part VIII, Sec. 56).

• Specifies that each aforementioned civil protection order will require individuals named in the order to have their concealed pistol license revoked and surrender each firearm in their possession to law enforcement (Part IV, Sec. 18).

• Requires each state school district and its staff to make adjustments and modifications as needed to support students subject to a civil protection order (Part XIII, Sec. 86).
