Vote to concur with amendments and pass a bill that establishes restrictions on mail in ballots for vote-by-mail elections and ballot drop boxes locations.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits election officials, state agencies, and state or local officials from using private money to help pay for election administration (Sec. 2, Pg. 8).

  • Requires the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to assist the Department of State in identifying changes in residents address on their driver’s license or identification card and report each change to the appropriate supervisor of elections who shall change the voter’s registration records in accordance (Sec. 6, Pg. 13).

  • Increases powers for election observers and authorizes the governor to appoint replacements to fill certain local political positions vacated by people running for higher office (Sec. 13, Pg. 22).

  • Limits who can provide assistance and drop off another voters' ballot at a dropbox to only individual volunteers that take and sign an oath documenting their name, the individual’s name who requires assistance, and the ballot dropbox location (Sec. 16, Pg. 26).

  • Requires voters to make a request to election officials for a vote-by-mail ballot by the end of each calendar year either in person or in writing (Sec. 24, Pg. 31).

  • Limits who can hand out any item, including food or water or election-related material, to voters waiting in line to only volunteers or staff working with the election supervisor and specifies that items can't be given to voters within 150 feet of a ballot box (Sec. 29, Pg. 42).
