Vote to pass a bill that requires voter registrars cross-reference voter rolls with the DMV to remove ineligible voters.

Highlights:

• Requires the registrar to deliver a note seeking proof of citizenship status when they receive notice of a registered voter’s lack of citizenship via the Department of Public Safety or in connection with a motor vehicle (Sec. 1).

• Requires the Secretary of State to partner with the Department of Public Safety to share information and confirm the accuracy of registered voter’s citizenship (Sec.1). 

• Specifies that the information shared must include (Sec. 1):

• Full legal name and if applicable former name; and

• Date of birth; and

• Residential address; and

• Driver’s license or state identification number; and 

• Social security number; and

• Documentation confirming a citizen’s lawful presence in the state; and

• Citizenship status.

• Requires the Secretary of State to provide a report on how many registered voters were canceled due to this act by no later than December 31st (Sec. 1).
