Title: Amends the Equitable Restrooms Act to Create All-Gender Restrooms

Vote to pass a bill that amends the Equitable Restrooms Act to allow any multiple-occupancy restroom to be identified as an all-gender multiple-occupancy restroom.

Highlights:

 

  • Defines “multiple-occupancy restrooms” as a fully-enclosed room designated as serving male or female users and containing more than one toilet stall, at least one sink, and any amount of urinals, including having none (Sec. 5).

  • Specifies that any multiple occupancy restroom shall be identified as an all-gender multiple-occupancy restroom and must include the following information (Sec. 5):

    • Inclusive signage that is prominently displayed at the exterior of the restroom for all who are entering that does not indicate any specific gender;

    • Stall dividers equipped with sturdy and functioning locking mechanisms controlled by the user and a partition privacy cover that ensures that no one is able to see through the space between the divider and the door; and

    •  Partitions for each urinal, if they are present.

  • Requires facilities under construction, in which 50 percent of the building is altered, to convert all restrooms into all-gender multiple-occupancy restrooms (Sec. 5).

  • Requires that all-gender multiple-occupancy restrooms have the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 5):

    • A small trash receptacle with a cover in each toilet stall;

    • A vending device of menstruation supplies; and

    • A baby diaper changing station.

  • Specifies that this bill will take effect immediately upon being signed into law (Sec. 5).
