Vote to pass a bill that increases Increases access to sporting facilities in public and nonpublic high schools.

Highlights:

 

  • Increases access to outdoor sporting facilities in public and nonpublic high schools (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the board of education to make all rules and regulations necessary for the enforcement of this act (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that for the 2020-21 school year all public and private highschools activities shall limit the number of spectators to (Sec. 1):

    • no more than 40 percent for outdoor activities; and 

    • for indoor activities, 7 individuals per 1,000 square feet.

  • Specifies that the term “spectator” shall not include athletes or employees of a public or nonpublic high school, entertainers, or staff providing support for the event (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that nothing in this act shall prohibit a school or governing body from enforcing stricter access to sporting events (Sec. 3).
