Title: Repeals Certain Requirements for District Board Members at Polling Places
Vote to pass a bill that repeals certain requirements for district board members at polling places.
Amends the poll worker requirements of needing 4-6 district board members at each station to only needing no less than 2 for the June 8, 2021 primary election due to continued concerns surrounding COVID-19 (Sec. 2).
Repeals the requirement that distinct board members be residents of the county in which that member is serving (Sec. 2).
Authorizes non citizens that are not registered voters but are otherwise qualified to serve as a district board member to serve as poll workers for a primary election (Sec. 2).
Repeals the provision requiring a polling place be located within 1,000 feet of a district boundary line if no suitable polling place that is accessible to individuals with disabilities and the elderly exists (Sec. 2).
Authorizes each district board member to receive $200 in compensation for a full day worked at a polling station and $100 for a full shift worked (Sec. 2).
Appropriates $1.7 million from the general fund for the purpose of activating and deploying the New Jersey National Guard troops who assisted with the 2020 primary and general election (Sec. 4).
